One of the negative consequences of modern media is the pressure exerted on religion and religious beliefs, particularly in the domain of behavior and lifestyle grounded in Islamic teachings. Within media environments, the Islamic lifestyle is subjected to the forces of secularism and relativism—factors that threaten the absolute religious principles and values essential for shaping an ideal Islamic way of life. Under such circumstances, individuals may experience confusion when facing their own religious and cultural realities, rendering them unable to construct a lifestyle consistent with Islamic guidance. The widespread use of electronic tools such as the internet, satellite channels, and computers has resulted in the expansion of similar “behavioral patterns” across the globe, commonly referred to as “virtual identity.” The prevailing culture embedded in modern communication technologies—particularly the internet and satellite media—is inherently identity-imposing rather than identity-forming, as the religious “values of life” are not dominant within them. Consequently, “human identity” becomes overshadowed or even sacrificed for a “mechanized identity.” In such a state, individuals succumb to negligence or subconscious influence and ultimately adopt non-Islamic lifestyles. This study, using a descriptive-analytical method and relying on library research, seeks to examine the media-related factors that hinder the realization of an Islamic lifestyle.
