This study aims to explore and clarify the role of parents’ emotional responsiveness to their child’s crying and fear, and its impact on the development of faith from the perspective of Islamic education. By examining fundamental Islamic sources—such as Qur’anic verses, narrations of the Infallibles, linguistic evidence, and findings from educational psychology—the research seeks to shed light on the relationship between a child’s emotional needs and the early formation of faith. The study employs a descriptive–analytical method, with data collected and organized through content analysis of Islamic texts and scientific literature. The findings indicate that during the early stages of life, children require warm, gentle, and reassuring parental responses to build a sense of safety and trust. When parents respond to crying or fear with physical comfort, soothing words, and a calm presence, the foundations of secure attachment are strengthened. This secure attachment is considered, within Islamic teachings, a primary basis for psychological and emotional security—an essential prerequisite for accepting divine guidance and nurturing the innate inclination toward faith. Conversely, when parents ignore a child’s emotional needs or react with harshness and coldness, the child experiences insecurity, anxiety, and emotional distress. Such conditions may lead to negative emotional states, including hardness of heart, which Islamic teachings regard as major obstacles to faith formation and spiritual growth. Overall, the results demonstrate that fostering a child’s faith begins with establishing emotional security within the family. Acts of compassion, patience in the face of crying, and supportive presence during moments of fear not only fulfill the child’s psychological needs but also pave the way for developing faith, enabling the child to embrace divine teachings and cultivate a heartfelt connection with God.
